Readers’ Group stories
In spring I was commissioned by West Midlands Readers’ Network to visit a readers’ group, talk to them about what they did and where they operated, and to write a short story based on what they’d told me.
In June Roz Goddard and I visited Llanfair Waterdine in Shropshire to talk to their readers’ group They meet in members’ houses. We heard about the books they were reading, ate cake and heard lots of stories about what it means to live literally on the borders of England and Wales. They asked if I could write a story that was amusing, light-hearted and set in the Llanfair area.
In September I went back and read them the story.
