I might be a two and a half hour journey from the Midlands now, but it’s still possible to keep in touch with old friends via the miracle of Zoom.
It was such a pleasure to read at Virtual Voices on Saturday 25th April along with Kay Channon, Mark Reece and seven open mic poets.
It was all ably hosted by Jane Salmons and Kuli Kohli.
Simon Fletcher and Marion Cockin from Offa’s Press hovered in the background.
There’s a really lively poetry & writing scene in the West Midlands thanks to people like these.

I’ve no idea who took this photo or when, but there I am reading aloud in front of a load of books.
Zoom is nothing like this. I do miss a room full of people, but Zoom has kept us together through the pandemic and well beyond.
What to read at Virtual Voices? I chose some springlike poems – a 15 minute set allowed nine poems. The weather was warm and sunny so why not? We need all the hope we can get.
It was lovely to hear writing from old friends Kuli Kuli, Jill Tromans, Mark Reece, Jan Hedger and Jenna Plewes.
THANKS FOR INVITING ME TO READ AT VIRTUAL VOICES.
